Downtown Dogs @ The Dog Pit

Contrary to belief, Yesterdog is not the only hotdog restaurant in Grand Rapids. Sitting in the heart of downtown at Rosa Parks Circle, The Dog Pit offers unique and delicious hotdogs that won't empty your wallet. Under new ownership, this quick bite joint looks to crown itself for having the best hotdogs in the area!

The Dog Pit operates Monday-Thursday from 10:30am to 9pm, Friday 10:30am-2:30am and Saturday 11am-2:30am. So it's safe to say, if you're downtown for an event or a night out, this spot must be on your bucket list! As you approach the restaurant, you're surrounded by towering buildings and pedestrians scurrying from place to place. You're overcome with a sense of big city feel and the location is absolutely beautiful. As you walk through their doors, the ambiance is very welcoming. Hardwood floors and walls the colors of ketchup and mustard ties everything together. What more could you ask from a delicious hotdog joint?

This is a hotdog restaurant, so sitting down immediately is a no go. As you approach the counter, the staff is very friendly. This restaurant can be busy from time to time, so a small waiting period is necessary to perfect your delicious dogs. As its your turn to order, the staff ask what you want and creates your food right before your eyes. Once it's finished, they hand you your food and the cashier rings up your total and you're on your way to a delicious meal. The seating on the inside is very spacious. Although depending on how busy they are, seating could be limited. Thankfully, hotdogs are perfect on the go food. So regardless if this place is busy or not upon arrival, it's still well worth your time and money. They even having seating outside depending on the weather and time of year!

I've always had The Dog Pit on my radar as one of, if not the top hotdog joint in all of West Michigan. Now that they're under new ownership, it only confirms my thoughts even more. The new owners are extremely nice and welcoming. Not only can you tell that they actually care about their business, but they care about their customers as well. I had the pleasure of dining here during Art Prize and my food was absolutely amazing. I spoke with one of the owners, Erin, about possibly handling The Dog Pit's day-to-day social media operations. Only time will tell, but I see huge potential in building their social media presence and flowing more customers through their doors given the opportunity. It's the perfect hotdogs, in the perfect restaurant, in the perfect location. Nevertheless, this needs to be your go to hotdog joint. Oh, and I only spent around $10 for two people, talk about a win!
